ABOUT US

The Sanborn Lumberyard was first built in 1992. It was owned by husband and wife for three years and served the community of Sanborn well.

In 1995, Rod and Linda Rath purchased what was known as the Sanborn Building Center. Being family owned and operated was what they were most known for. After doing some updates in the offices and adding a second building in 1996 and the third in 1997, the lumberyard grew. Their daughter worked under their wings for 12 years and some nieces and nephews were found around the yard too. After almost 30 years of running a successful business, it was time for Rod and Linda to retire. With their grown family moving on to bigger opportunities for themselves, a tough decision was made.

April of 2024, Chris Haht purchased what is now known as the Sanborn Building Center & Design. Not wanting to take away the relationship with the small town community, many of the familiar faces are still seen today. We want you to have that same experience with us as you have had the last 30 years.

Some new faces are also present as Chris has expanded the lumberyard to meet the needs of more people! He has brought in a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) designer to help create designs with more precision and faster design cycles. This makes it so much easier for you to see your design so we can meet your expectations of your project. Chris has also opened up The Kitchen + Bath Studio by SBCD. We don't want to just leave you with an empty building, let us help you with the bathroom, kitchen, office, flooring and tiling needs of your new build!
